Path of Discrimination Sutta Portions

The vast majority of the Tipitika has been translated into English, but not the entirety. There are one or two (at least) books that have not been translated. There is also a lot of repetition that has been elided (replaced with ellipses). For casual study this is fine and was a practical necessity of the publisher, but for formal chanting (as I have been doing since the '80's), it is imperfect. In particular, The Path of Discrimination has a large portion elided, as it has a lot of repetition. I have recreated a few elided sections for the sake of the very few (if any) in the present or future who might see a value in it. 

A humorous follow-up.  It turns out that the ellision was not the translator abbreviating the Pali, but that the Pali is already abbreviated!  In other words, the original Pali does not write out all of the many repetitions in detail.  Instead, the Pali indicates that it is a formula, and says to repeat the formula for each of the items in the list.

Assuming that the Pali was written down from an oral recitation tradition (something I am slightly less sure of than I was before this discovery), we still don't know whether the oral recitation tradition recited it in expanded form (i.e. it was first abbreviated at Aluvihare), or if the oral recitations also gave it as a formula.

The below portions are reconstructions of the translation by Bhikkhu Ñāṇamoli, Second Edition, Reprinted by Pali Text Society 2014.  We are grateful to the late Ven. Ñāṇamoli and the PTS.  May they attain nibbana.
